Department of Electrical Power Systems

The Department of Electric Power Systems was established in 2014 after merging the departments of Electrical and Control Devices, Electrical Engineering, and Ergonomics and Electrical Engineering. Currently, the department employs 43 academic professionals specialising in the following areas of research and study: electrical energetics systems stability, electrical machines, electric and magnetic fields, corona discharge, electrical engineering, power electronics, renewable energy system projects, lightning prevention, surge prevention, equipment insulation, ergonomics, work environment, human safety, and the prevention against industrial accidents.

Lecturers of the department coordinate the undergraduate degree programs of Renewable Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering as well as the graduate degree programs of Electrical Energy Engineering, Electric Power Systems, and Energy Technologies and Economics.

1) Computational intelligence. Research includes the development of computational intelligence-based methods for adaptive data analysis and decision-making and research on the characteristics of electrical converters and electrical machines.

2) Electric and Energy Systems. The focus is on the reliability of energy systems and security of energy supply, the energy market, the development of smart technologies, the development of renewable and distributed generation energy systems, and their integration into energy systems.
