The aim of the project is to create a smart contactless tool for measuring the mechanical properties of thin specimens, providing prompt and detailed information on the mechanical properties of thin specimens. Measurements are based on the principle of resonant ultrasound spectroscopy. Innovation lies in air-coupled ultrasound application and the fact that frequencies used are significantly lower than in the case of the time of flight application. However, such signals overlap. This interference is useful for this technique: resonant spectroscopy is applied and the inverse problem is solved, thus providing more accurate information on the sample being tested: thickness, modulus of elasticity, density, damping, and etc. Other innovative solutions are required to solve the problem: excitation using spread spectrum signals, appropriate electronics for the signals acquisition and processing methods for both signal compression, separation and solving the inverse problem. As tool is intelligent, all electronics parameters, processing parameters are selected automatically.
