Great news for prospective Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) students – a significant amount of funds will be invested into further development of study quality at KTU. European Social Fund has allocated an impressive amount of 0.5 million euros for the study programmes optimisation and developing teaching competences of teachers in physical and technological sciences.

The project was prepared by KTU Department of Study Management and will be implemented over 2 years. The project includes complex activities related to study quality improvements, such as classes on didactics and specified training for teachers, train the trainer programme implementation and further transfer of competencies by strengthening the staff of the Centre of Academic Competencies EDU_Lab.

“KTU study programmes are known for their interdisciplinarity, active collaboration with business and public sector, competent and skilful teachers, the constant development of their teaching skills. The winning of the project will allow us to further invest into the efficiency and quality of these activities”, says Kristina Ukvalbergienė, Director of KTU Study Management Department.

During the project, the analysis of the tendencies of development of studies and research in Europe, Lithuania and Kaunas region will be carried out, and the recommendations for the further development of KTU study programmes portfolio will be drawn.

The University teachers and the project team will travel to advanced European study and research institutions to participate in seminars, workshops and discussions in order to learn from good practice. It is planned that during the project around 200 from KTU and other Lithuanian higher education schools’ teachers will improve their qualifications during the project.

“The higher education of today has to meet the requirements and expectations of various generations. This includes e-learning opportunities, student-focused learning, individualised learning goals and flexible study road. I believe that this project will help us improve KTU study quality and competitiveness on the international level”, says Jonas Čeponis, KTU Vice-Rector for Studies.

The project will allow strengthening and expanding the activities of KTU EDU_Lab, the Centre of Academic Competences, devoted to training teachers competences since 2015.
